Who sees my data?

EMA is guided by NHS Digital Information Governance policies and hence sets stringent rules on who has access to patient data and how such data is used. Only your HCP registered with the NHS will be able to see your health records and data.

Under rare circumstances, the EMA technical team might need to access your health data in order to fix a technical issue. Since our staff is compliant with and strictly governed by data security and protection regulations, your data will not be misused by any in the EMA team.

Does EMA sell my data?

No. EMA is governed by the NHS' and UK Government's data protection laws and would never sell your data.

Can I access data about myself and my care?

You have the right to access your data stored in our systems when you are onboarded by your HCP. You may email support-ema@parallelreality.co.uk for any such queries.

If you wish to see your data stored on the NHS system, your NHS HCPs would be able to retrieve it for you. You may ask them or visit their website/CCG to know more.

Does EMA comply with the NHS' laws and rules about my data?

EMA is fully compliant with the Data Protection Act (DPA) and Information Governance Toolkit set up by NHS Digital. EMA has also been developed by strictly adhering to the NHS' standards. Please refer to NHS digital, data and technology standards - NHS Digital for more information on what standards are met.

Why does EMA need my information?

EMA requires your basic personal information to create a profile by which your HCP would identify you on their system. EMA is a platform that enhances the quality of care provided to patients and promotes faster communication between you and your HCP. For this reason, EMA will present your health updates to your HCP.

Do I need an internet connection for EMA to function properly?

Once EMA is installed on your device, it does not need an internet connection for the use of in-app features. However, functions such as updating your exercise performance to the servers and having live audio or video consultations with your HCP require an active internet connection.

Will my data be lost if I uninstall the app?

No, your data will be stored in secure AWS servers. You can request a copy of your data by emailing support-ema@parallelreality.co.uk

What if I don't use EMA to monitor my progress?

Your HCP's ability to monitor your progress and help you recover is solely dependant on your proper use of EMA. If you don't use EMA to monitor your progress, your HCP will not have vital data required to help you, which will result in delaying your progress and recovery.
